ROCKLAND, Maine — Employees at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 1 got an uncaffeinated jolt Wednesday afternoon when a woman accidentally drove her car into the restaurant.
No one was hurt, police said, when Rosaline Wall, 75, of South Thomaston pulled into a parking spot in front of the restaurant at 2:15 p.m. and hit the gas instead of the brakes.
While the car broke the exterior vinyl siding and caused a bulge in the inside wall, it did not actually enter the building. Police estimated Wall’s car had $500 in damage.
Dunkin’ Donuts Manager Virginia Walck said she did not think repairing the building would be very expensive — and that it’s not the first time the restaurant had been damaged by an errant driver.
“It’s happened before, in exactly the same spot,” Walck said.
The restaurant’s seating area was empty when Wall hit the building.
“It was a complete accident,” Walck said.
