Mr. Bucksport contest to be held March 14


BUCKSPORT — The ninth annual Mr. Bucksport Competition will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, in the Bucksport High School gym.

The competition will consist of 12 high school male contestants who will choose names representing clubs, organizations, class periods, and businesses. Each contestant will be judged on his entrance, sportswear, talent, and one interview question. Five finalists will be selected to answer one final question.

The winner will receive the title “Mr. Bucksport 2009,” an award of $200 and an all-season pass to all Bucksport High School events. The runner-up will receive $100, and each contestant will receive a $10 McDonald’s gift certificate.

This year’s contestants consist of six seniors, four juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman. Five contestants are return competitors while the remaining seven are rookies to the event.

A rehearsal date is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Bucksport High School gym.

Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for students. Contestant photos cost $5 for a group picture, $3 for individual pictures. Refreshments will be on sale. Proceeds will benefit the BHS Outing Club.
