The storm that started dumping snow in southern Maine Wednesday morning left several inches of new snow in Aroostook County overnight and into early Thursday morning.

The most snow fell in Ashland, which received 14 inches, while Fort Kent Mills followed with 12 inches. Presque Isle saw 11.5 inches, while 11 inches fell in Houlton. Caribou recorded 10.5 inches and Monticello had 10.6 inches.

The snow caused some hazardous road conditions, prompting schools and some organizations to delay their openings by several hours Thursday. Few accidents or cars off the road were reported.

There were a few fender benders in Caribou, but nothing major, according to the Caribou Police Department.
