NEWPORT, Maine — A local man was arrested and his female partner taken to the hospital early Thursday after a domestic assault at their home on Old Bangor Road, police said.

Craig Young, 57, was arrested and bailed at the Newport Police Department after his live-in partner called police asking for medical help, according to David Wintle of the Newport police.

The woman was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Wintle said the altercation between Young and his girlfriend actually occurred Wednesday night. When the woman called for help, Young was still inside the home.

Young was arrested without incident, Wintle said. The investigating officer is Timothy Hall.
