HOULTON – Our beloved mother, Jessie L. (Nason) Tarr, 84, went to be with her Lord, Jan. 21, 2009, with her family by her side, at her daughter’s home. She was born Oct. 30, 1924, in Monticello, the daughter of Merritt and Sadie (Stackhouse) Nason. She attended Calvary Pentecostal Church, Monticello. She is survived by eight children, Roger Jewell and his wife, Gayle, of Caribou, Minerva Buxton and her husband, Bill, of Houlton, Sadie Shields and Charles, Anita Nason and her fiance, Larry Williams, Sheila Cleary and her husband, Emmons, Halston Wiley, all of Linneus, Michael Wiley and his wife, Cindy, of Yukon, Okla., and Janet Caron and her husband, Ollie, of Linneus; 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Muriel Durost and Arnold of Presque Isle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved companion, Paul Armstrong. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, three sisters; three grandchildren, Anne Marie, Lenny and Michael; and one great-granddaughter, Melissa. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with her son, the Rev. Roger Jewell; her nephew, the Rev. Merritt Durost; and the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Spring interment will be held at Littleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jessie’s memory to Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
