ORONO, Maine — Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, Rosscare, and Dirigo Pines Retirement Community announced Tuesday that registered nurse Margaret “Maggie” Michaud of Bangor is the new executive director of Dirigo Pines Inn. Registered nurse Barbara Steller, who was Dirigo Pines’ first executive director and served in that position for six years, retired at the end of December.

Michaud most recently served as director of performance improvement and regulatory affairs at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and before that as president and CEO of New England Home Health Care of Bangor.

“Maggie brings with her a vast knowledge of health care quality, senior services and leadership experience,” said the EMHS vice president of continuum care, Lisa Harvey-McPherson, R.N. “She is very personable and interacts well with both staff and residents; we’re very pleased to have her lead the Dirigo Pines team.”

Rosscare is the owner of Dirigo Pines, an active adult community in Orono on 68 acres of wooded land and ponds. The facility offers a variety of living arrangements, including maintenance-free cottages and the Dirigo Inn with independent living, assisted living, specialized care and memory loss units.

In partnership with First Atlantic Corp., Rosscare also owns and operates assisted living facilities such as Ross Manor and Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, Colonial Health Care in Lincoln and Dexter Health Care in Dexter.
