Bangor woman hurt in Levant rollover

LEVANT, Maine — A Bangor woman was injured Sunday when the SUV she was driving rolled over on Lake Road.

Michelle Nye, 38, who complained of neck pain after the accident, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, according to Deputy James Kennedy of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.

After receiving treatment, Nye was released from the hospital Sunday night, a hospital nursing supervisor said.

Kennedy said the accident occurred about 5:30 p.m., when Nye failed to negotiate a very sharp curve. The 1996 Ford Explorer Nye was driving, which belonged to her mother, rolled at least once and was demolished in the crash.

A female passenger riding in the front passenger seat struck her head on the windshield but declined to go to the hospital. Nye’s boyfriend, who was sitting in the back seat and was the only one in the vehicle wearing a seat belt — was not injured, Kennedy said.

The names and ages of the passengers weren’t immediately available Monday night.

The deputy attributed the accident to speed and unfamiliarity with the road.
