WINTERPORT, Maine — A Frankfort man complained of a sore wrist after being ejected from his pickup truck when it rolled over on Route 1A on Friday morning.
“I don’t know how you can complain of only bumps and bruises after being ejected out the window,” Waldo County Sheriff’s Detective Jason Bosco said of driver Robert Seekins, 26, of Frankfort. “He was very lucky.”
Seekins was driving north toward Hampden in a 1994 Chevrolet pickup when the truck suddenly veered hard to the left, hit a snowbank, rolled over and came to rest on its wheels. Seekins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected out the passenger-side window. The accident took place near Cove Road at 9:23 a.m.
Bosco said Seekins told him he suspected something broke in the steering mechanism because the truck lurched left without warning. A driver following behind Seekins witnessed the accident and confirmed that the pickup suddenly veered off the road, Bosco said.
The truck was a wreck and had to be towed from the scene.
