Candlelight march for homeless postponed

BANGOR, Maine – The candlelight march and memorial service for the homeless planned for Sunday evening in Bangor has been postponed until Monday due to the severe winter storm expected to strike the region by Sunday afternoon.

The memorial service, which is part of National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Hammond Street Congregational Church. Those interested in participating in the can-dlelight walk should gather at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, located at 263 Main St., at 5:30 p.m. The walk will begin at 5:45 p.m. and will conclude at the church, located at 28 High St.

Donations of hats, gloves, scarves and nonperishable food items will be accepted during the event.
