DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — A Macwahoc Plantation woman was injured Friday morning when the vehicle she was riding in was struck by another vehicle on Route 16.

Pamela Osgood, 61, who suffered broken bones and internal injuries, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, according to Dover-Foxcroft police Officer Gary West. She later was transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Osgood’s husband, Dwight Osgood, 60, who was driving the couple’s 1995 Oldsmobile, was not injured, West said. The couple had been traveling toward Dover-Foxcroft.

West said Ruth Nason, 79, of Sebec had turned her vehicle around at about 8:45 a.m. at the intersection off Parson’s Landing Road, having forgotten something at home, and pulled out in front of the oncoming Osgood vehicle.

Dover-Foxcroft firefighters were called to assist in extricating Pamela Osgood from the vehicle.

Nason, who had no obvious injuries, was taken to the hospital for observation, West said.

Nason’s 2005 Chevrolet Equinox and the Osgood vehicle were demolished, according to West. All three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, he said.

West said no charges were filed.

The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
