BELFAST, Maine — Police are investigating the shooting death of a High Street man at his residence on Tuesday.
Police and an ambulance were dispatched to 346 High Street at 11:30 a.m. to a reported gunshot injury.
Police Chief Jeffrey Trafton declined to comment on the incident other than to say that a man had been killed and that a weapon was recovered.
Another resident of the home had apparently ran to the house of a neighbor to report the shooting.
Trafton said detectives and a crime scene investigation team from the Maine State Police were en route to the scene.
