NEWPORT, Maine — A juvenile was charged with aggravated assault after a local woman was hit in the head by a baseball bat about 10:30 Saturday night.

Deven Scott, 18, of New Road, Gilman Trailer Park, suffered two blows to the head and one blow to the upper shoulder and neck, said Lt. Randy Wing of the Newport Police Department.

She was taken by Sebasticook Valley Ambulance to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield for treatment and then was released, Wing said.

The incident involved a combination of juveniles and adults, Wing said. The assailant, a juvenile, was charged with aggravated assault and returned to parental custody.

Trooper John Brown of the Maine State Police assisted Wing at the scene.
