JONESPORT – Viola A. Tracy, 78, passed away June 29, 2006, at Sunrise Care Facility, after an extended illness. She was born June 13, 1928, in Jonesport, the daughter of the late James E. and Abigail A. (Merchant) Alley. Growing up, Viola and her family enjoyed spending time at their camp on Head Harbor Island. She worked many years as a secretary for the sardine factory in Jonesport. Viola and Winnie enjoyed traveling around the area and camping in their trailer. Viola was a member of the Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church. She was a volunteer for many years for the Jonesport Ambulance Service. She is survived by her loving husband of more than 50 years, Winslow R. Tracy; sister-in-law, Marie Beascon and husband, Fred, of Otis, Mass.; great-niece, Ann Marie; great-niece, Christine; great-great nephew, Jacob; special friends, Betty and Millard L. Crowley; and several other nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by a nephew, Freddie. Visiting will take place noon-2 p.m. Monday, July 3, at Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church in Jonesport with a service 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor George Woodward. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesport. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sunrise Care Facility, Activity Fund, P.O. Box 509, Jonesport, ME 04649.
