PRESQUE ISLE – Sara “Sally” Culberson Nardone, 88, died peacefully, Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Easton, the daughter of Roy and Vera (Beckwith) Culberson. Sally graduated from Easton High School in 1937 and the University of Maine in 1941 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. She worked in sales and dressmaking in Connecticut for two and one half years. In 1945 she married Orlando “Dutch” Nardone and was a homemaker until his unexpected death in 1965. She reentered the workforce as a housemother for the University of Maine – Presque Isle for two years, and then accepted a position in the facilities maintenance department at Northern Maine Community College for 20 years, before retiring in 1991. Sally was a member of Grant Memorial United Methodist Church and past member of the Probus Club and SAGE program. She is survived by her daughters, Gilda Nardone of Brunswick and Jackie Gray and her husband, Fred, of Saphire, N.C.; a son, James Nardone and his wife, Barbara, of Presque Isle; four grandchildren, Jason Nardone of West Baldwin, Josh Sandberg of San Francisco, Dan Sandberg of Freeport and Andrea Cramer and her partner, Moises Ortez, of Gouldsboro. She is also leaving three great-grand-children, Seaira and Jessica Robinson and Joshua Cramer. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A reception will be after the service in the church fellowship hall. A spring committal will take place at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Those who wish may make donations in Sara’s memory to Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O.
