MAPLETON – Rowena Elizabeth Whitt, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at her residence. She was born March 22, 1929, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Vernie and Gladys (Higgins) Howlett. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family. Rowena was a lifetime congregant of the Full Gospel Assembly Church, Presque Isle. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Brown and her husband, Conrad, of Westfield; her beloved granddaughter, Amy Proctor and her husband, Matthew, of Killings-worth, Conn.; her great-grandsons, Elias and Daniel; great-stepgrandsons, Callahan and Cody; her sister, Doris Worthington and her husband, Howard, of Mapleton; a loving extended family, including special nephews, Michael Howlett and Wayne Howlett; a niece, Susan Kennedy; and special friend, Bernadette Gamblin. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Whitt; her brothers, Merle “Mickey” Howlett, Lawrence Howlett and Wayne Howlett Sr.; and her sisters, Pauline Howlett, Arlene Hayden and Mildred Lafland. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Sarah Blackstone officiating.
