SULLIVAN – Leo H. “Butch” Martin Jr., 51, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 10, 2004, at his home in Sullivan. He was born July 15, 1952, in Bangor, the son of Leo H. and Geraldine L. (Briggs) Martin. Butch was an officer at the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 2743 in Ellsworth. He was a very committed and devoted member and his presence will be missed. In addition to his mother, Butch is survived by his wife of 14 years, Diane G. Martin of Sullivan; two sons, Leo H. Martin III and his wife, Kristy, of Mariaville, and Travis of Ellsworth; a daughter, Danielle Martin of Sullivan; a granddaughter, Elyce Martin of Mariaville; four brothers, Richard Manley of Ellsworth, Roger Martin of Gouldsboro, Gary “Sampy” Martin of Harrington, and Tim Martin of Sullivan; three sisters, Donna Haycock of Gouldsboro, Polly Tracy of Sullivan, and Julie Martin of Ellsworth; his mother-in-law, Jane Gross of Connecticut; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Butch was predeceased by a daughter, Ayla Martin. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Greater Ellsworth Area Elks Lodge, High Street, Ellsworth, with the officers of Lodge No. 2743 officiating.
