WEST TREMONT – John W. Dunbar, 59, died Oct. 13, 2004, at Ellsworth hospital. He was born May 24, 1945, in Bar Harbor, the son of John E. and Dorothy (Ellis) Dunbar. He owned and operated the John W. Dunbar Co. for 30 years, where they sold Ocean Chill Brand seafood products. John’s family was everything to him, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and he enjoyed reading the Bible. John is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Margaret “Peggy” Ann Dunbar; two sons, Matthew Wayne Dunbar and his wife, Karen, and Christopher Norris Dunbar, all of Tremont; one daughter, Dorothy Elizabeth and her husband, James Manning, of Sullivan; three brothers, Edwin Dunbar and wife, Carolyne, Ralph Dunbar, and Guy Dunbar and wife, Paula, all of Southwest Harbor; four sisters, Gertrude and husband, George Gascon, of Manset, Charlotte and husband, George Lawson, of Bernard, Joyce and husband, Jim Kenney, of Buxton and Pauline and husband, Nick Moody, of Southwest Harbor; and five grandchildren, Brittany, Caleb, Matthew, Zachary and Ethan. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at the Manset Union Church with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan and the Rev. Chuck Ives officiating. Interment will be at Hillrest Cemetery, West Tremont. Contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Manset Union Church, care of Sandra Chalmers, Seawall Road, Manset, ME 04679.
