MILLINOCKET – James Wesley Walsh Jr., 84, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 20, 1923, in Brownville Junction, the son of James Wesley and Beatrice Diane (Brown) Walsh. James was a World War II veteran, during which time he served two tours of duty in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time of service, he worked in demolition and was involved and injured in fighting action at Iwo Jima. After the war, James returned to Maine, where he worked for Great Northern Paper Co., for many years, retiring in 1985. He is survived by three children, Wayne L. Walsh, Diane Walsh and Susan Marie Walsh, all of Millinocket; three brothers, Donald “Dick” Walsh and Linwood “Teewee” Walsh and his wife, Shirley, all of Millinocket and John “Jack” Walsh and his wife, Susan, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Bertha Walsh of Millinocket; many nieces and nephews. James will also be missed by special friends, Donna and Ronnie Madore, and their children of Millinocket. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, June B. (Farrar) Walsh; a son, John E. Walsh; and a brother, Charles “Red” Walsh. Graveside services will be held in the springtime at Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
