VEAZIE – Jack W. Lanphere, 73, loving husband of Darleen (McCarty) Lan-phere, died July 23, 2004, unexpectedly at his Veazie home. He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in St. Paul, Minn., the son of Leo and Kathryn Lanphere. Jack was an avid sports fan especially the L.A. Dodgers and Patriots. He enjoyed his gardening and he loved animals. He had “The Look” that will be lovingly remembered and missed. He graduated from Easton High School, Easton, Pa., in 1948, and furthered his education at Husson College, where he was the valedictorian of his graduating class of 1982. He received numerous awards during his tenure in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and husbands, Valerie and Rev. William Preble of Corinth, Jeanne and Douglas Butler of Newport; one son, Bradley Deen Lanphere of Rockport; and stepdaughter, Emily Brown of Brewer. He was a loving grandfather to Brad and Amy, Bryan and Tara, Courtney, Ryan, Alexandra, and John; great-grandfather to Autumn, Luke, Ethan and Cordell Jack. He will also be sadly missed by many special nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Loretta; and his only brother, David Lanphere.
