HUDSON, FLA. – Irene M. Allen, 93, formerly of Harrington, died Oct. 16, 2004, at Marliere Hospice Center in New Port Richey, Fla. She was born in Farmingdale, Oct. 31, 1910, the daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Newell) Manson. She was a graduate of Calais Academy, Bates College in Lewiston, and was a teacher in Harrington, Cherryfield, Milbridge and retired from S.A.D. No. 37 in Harrington with 34 years of teaching English and foreign languages. She was a member of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Hudson, Fla., Maine Retired Teachers Association, National Education Association, Bates College Alumni Association, and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Alcyone Chapter, Milbridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie (Tig) Allen in 1976; a brother, George Manson. She is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Allen Rogers and son-in-law, Russell, of Robesonia, Pa. and Port Richey, Fla.; granddaughter, Stephanie J. Gattens and her husband, Lawrence, of Myerstown, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Jill and Jason Gattens, of Myerstown, Pa.; sister, Alice M. Murdock of Calais; great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in the chapel at Baypoint Village, Hudson, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Rd. 52, Hudson, FL 34667. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington, at a later date.
