ERLON EDWARD FOWLER

MADISON – Erlon Edward Fowler, 85, went home to be with his heavenly Father, Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Erlon passed away unexpectedly at his home, with his wife of 62 years by his side. He was a stroke survivor and lived with Parkinson’s disease that was debilitating for 10 years. His life was fulfilled with his family and working around his home and property. Erlon was born July 14, 1922, the son of Ambrose and Eva (Johnson) Fowler of Madison. He was a member of United Baptist Church of Madison. Erlon attended Madison High School, then joined the armed services serving from Dec. 19, 1942, until Sept. 21, 1943, and received a medical discharge. He worked at Hollingsworth and Whitney Pulp Mill and Great Northern Paper Co. while working his own dairy farm. He also worked in Norwock Shoe for 20 years. He was a former member of Madison Grange and also a former mem-ber of the American Legion. He was predeceased by his father, Ambrose Fowler; his mother, Eva Fowler; his sisters, Edith Hilton, infant, Gladys Fowler; and his brothers, Merle A. and Thomas E. Fowler. He is survived by his devoted wife, Arline Dorothy Merrill Fowler, formerly of Saco. They were married April 3, 1946. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Robert W. Fowler and his wife, Irene, of Madison. He is also survived by his five children and their families, Shirley Ann St. Peter and her husband, Richard, of Holden, and children, Matthew Wayne St. Peter and his wife, Keri, Aaron Ryan St. Peter and his wife, Melinda, and their two children, Trevon Asa and Trey Aidan, daughter, Brittany LeeAnn, David James Fowler and his wife, Paula, of Madison, and their two children, Amy Marie Jones and her husband, Ryan, daughter, Megan Marie and soon to arrive Cody Michael due May 16, Thomas James Fowler and his wife, Stacey and son, Cayden James, Beverly Jean Salisbury and her husband, Herb, of Solon, her two daughters from a previous marriage, Kerry Elizabeth Surette and her husband, Pete and their five children, Taylor Karie, Brendon Galen, Calleigh Jean-vale, Siabohn Rae and Cameron Tanner, Rachelle Star Cromwell and her husband, Horace, Patricia Ellen Violette and her husband, Glenn, of Littleton, and their two daughters, Angela Marie Burlock and her husband, Iyan, and their daughter, Tia Leigh, Jennifer Rae Doroen and her husband, Josh, and their two children, Adrian Xavier and Alexis Isabelle, Edward Galen Fowler and his wife, Suzanne, of Warwick, R.I., and their three children, Melissa Jeanne Fowler, Benjamin Merrill Fowler and Catherine “Katie” Elizabeth Fowler; and Erlon’s several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at United Baptist Church, 43 Maple St., Madison. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, with Pastor Dan Curtis officiating. Donations may be made in Erlon’s memory to Maine Parkinson Society, 5 Bucknam Road, Suite 1A, Falmouth, ME 04105.
