OAKFIELD – Dawn C. Larlee, 77, died peacefully Oct. 21, 2006, surrounded by her family at a local health care facility. She was born Jan. 21, 1929, in Oakfield, the daughter of Harry and Lucy (Russell) Dwyer. Dawn attended Oakfield schools and was a graduate of Oakfield High School, Ricker College and the University of Maine. She was an elementary school teacher in Island Falls, Mattawamkeag, Smyrna Mills and Houlton. She was a creative knitter, making sweaters for family and friends. Dawn was very musical and she loved to sing. Her greatest loves were spending time at the camp on Pleasant Pond, being with family and friends and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Douglas Larlee and his wife, Cola, of Norridgewock; two daughters, Lucy Girodet and her husband, Alain, of Bangor and Dr. Heather Ries of Winterville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Larlee and his wife, Jennifer, of San Antonio, George Girodet of Bangor and Jordan Larlee of Norridgewock; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Cole Larlee; one sister, June Glidden of Millinocket, several nieces, nephews and very special friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George Larlee; son-in-law, Dr. John Ries; two sisters, Jacqueline and Barbara. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Oakfield Cemetery.
