ADDELINE A. DEMMONS

DIXMONT – Addeline A. (Greene) Demmons, 89, went home to be with her Lord, peacefully, Jan. 22, 2007, surrounded by her family while at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 9, 1917, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Alfonzo F. and Carrie (Chambers) Greene. Addeline worked as a hand sewer at Viner Shoe Co., Bangor, for 26 years. After her retirement from the shoe company, she went on to serve as pastry cook at Hebron Ministerial Institute, Waverly, N.Y. Addeline was a true Christian lady and attended the Newport Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, fishing, spending time at her camp in Gouldsboro and being in the outdoors. Addeline made beautiful afghans that she donated to causes around the world. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Merle G. Demmons Sr. and wife, Lilla, of Exeter, Walter F. Demmons Sr. and wife, Carolyn, of Winterport, Kenneth G. Demmons Sr. and wife, Jean, of Dixmont, Donna L. Crafferty and husband, Bill, of Lincoln and Eugene J. Demmons and wife, Joan, of Concord, N.H., 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Merle G. Demmons Sr. in 1977; a son, Clifford Michael Demmons in 1984, three brothers and her twin sister. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday conducted by Pastor Timothy D. Boone of the East Dixmont Community Church. Interment in the springtime will be at Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont.
