SOUTHWEST HARBOR Aaria Corkum, 87, died Sunday, April 11, 2004. Born Aug. 2, 1916, in Athol, Mass., she was the daughter of Hazel Allen and Harold Marshall, DMD. She was fathered by Raymond Watson, DMD, after Harold’s death during her childhood. Aaria graduated from high school in Athol, Mass., and received her degree of registered nurse from Newton-Wellesley Hospital in 1938. Her caring for and nurturing of others was her greatest gift, and was surrounded by loving family and friends. Aaria has resided in Southwest Harbor since 1977, where she enjoyed gardening, boating, the natural beauty she loved, and many genuine local friends. Aaria is survived by two daughters, Linda Keeffe and husband, Richard, of Florissant, Colo., and Carole Cortrick and husband, Cody, of Dover, N.H. She is also survived by a sister, Avis Wessel and husband, Albert; and two nieces, Sharon and Laurel of Athol, Mass. A gathering of friends to celebrate the lives of Aaria and George, who preceded her in death, will be arranged at a later date.
