This mother, daughter and grandson all drowned on their way to Portland

Mary Stonehouse, a widow from Boston, drowned when her packet ship ran aground off Cape Elizabeth in 1807. Her daughter and 10-month-old grandson were also lost. All three generations are buried together in Portland’s Eastern Cemetery.
