Memories of son drive mother to graduate from college

In 2011, Monica Bowen’s world was turned upside down when her son Joshua died unexpectedly. Both attending college at the time, Bowen felt little motivation to continue her studies. However, a promise made between this mother and son gave her the strength needed to graduate. With the support of family, friends, and professors Monica Bowen will be graduating this May with a bachelor’s in business administration, concentration in accounting, from the University of Maine at Augusta.
