Maine women join national group seeking update to 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act

Kathy Kilrain del Rio, director of program and development for the Maine Women's Lobby and Maine Women's Policy Center, was one of the eight Maine women slated to travel to Washington, D.C., Monday to help lobby for an update of the 37-year-old federal Toxic Substances Control Act. Del Rio described why she believes women and children are at particular risk of harm if the law isn't expanded to regulate more chemicals used in everyday products.
