Fireballing during the Maine Higland Games

A fireball demonstration took place during the Maine Highland Games at the Topsham Fairground, Friday evening, August 16, 2013 in Topsham, Maine. The origins of fireballing in Scotland go back to ancient times when the Scots showed their fondness for celebrating various celestial events, pagan rites and clan victories with the lighting of large bonfires and swinging burning baskets on the bare hilltops of their rugged land, according to Dr. Bill Cunningham.
