Chellie Pingree: ‘So many people are upset with the president’

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, talks to the Bangor Daily News in this Facebook Live video from her election night party at Aura in Portland.

“I hear so many people who are upset with the president,” Pingree said of her discussions with constituents on the campaign trail. “It’s not just Democrats, it’s independents and a lot of Republicans who say, ‘This isn’t my Republican party.’ They’re angry with how he’s viewed around the world, how he talks on Twitter, his policies on health care and education and the environment. I feel like that’s the No. 1 thing: People would like to see a check on the president.”

Pingree faces challenges from Republican Mark Holbrook of Brunswick and independent Marty Grohman of Biddeford in a three-way race.
