BANGOR, Maine — A pair of trucks collided at a busy Bangor intersection Friday morning, which hampered traffic on Outer Hammond Street, which is also Route 2.

Bangor police Officer Dennis Lally said at the scene a CDS delivery truck was attempting to turn left from Banair Road to Hammond Street when it pulled in front of a Stewart’s Towing flat bed.

The flat bed tow truck was hauling a GMC pickup from Pine Hill landscaping services, according to Lally.

The accident was reported shortly after 8 a.m., Lally said. The names of the drivers were not disclosed, although the officer said one was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with minor injuries.

The crash disrupted traffic on Route 2 for a significant amount of time, and was reduced to one lane while crews cleaned up the scene.

A small amount of fuel also spilled onto the roadway, prompting the Department of Environmental Protection to respond, along with Bangor police and fire.

The busy stretch of road is less than a mile from the interchanges between interstates 95 and 395, ranked by the Maine Department of Transportation as the most dangerous intersections in Bangor.
