Tom Hennessey of Bangor tries his luck at the Bangor Salmon Pool on the opening day of fishing on April 1, 1960, while Dr. Frank Gilley and well-known salmon angler Guy Carroll cast from a boat. There were no reports of any salmon taken during the day's fishing. Buy Photo
After 54 years with the BDN, Tom Hennessey is marking the official end of his career, which began in 1959 as an apprentice printer.
We will miss Tom’s regular visits to the newsroom to ensure his art was properly scanned, that his column had successfully arrived to our computers through the “interwebs,” and often to give us his latest, matter-of-fact thoughts on the news story of the day.
Please enjoy this look at some of Tom’s work, which we’ve all had the pleasure of enjoying over the years. We wish him the best as he enjoys his retirement, which I anticipate will be filled with family, fishing, hunting and plenty of time in the great Maine outdoors.
