SKOWHEGAN — Paul and Frances Savage celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Skowhegan on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, among friends and relatives. The event was hosted by the Skowhegan “Fun”draisers – Suzanne Fitzpatrick, Jeanne Hogate, Mary Ellen Carpenter and Davida Barter. Present from the original wedding party were Paul McCollar, an usher; Carla Mayhew, a bridesmaid; Mary Ellen Carpenter, the flower girl; and Gregory Dore, the ring bearer. Guests attended from Skowhegan, Cornville, Newport, Norridgewock, Yarmouth, Vassalboro, Lewiston, Oakland, Waterville, Portland, Farmingdale, Saco, Madison, Lincolnville, Detroit, Solon, Fairfield, Shawmut, Plymouth and St. George, Quebec. Mr. Savage and the former Frances Morin were married Nov. 11, 1961, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Bingham by the Rev. Gaston Auger.
Mr. Savage is employed by Somerset County, Skowhegan, and was previously employed by Nissen’s Bakery. Mrs. Savage was previously employed by SAD 54, Mercer. The couple have three children, Richard and his wife, Denise, of Newport, Stephen and his wife, Carol, of Yarmouth and Michael and his wife, Bobbi, of Norridgewock; six grandchildren, Riley and Lauren of Newport, Sidney and Sayre of West Rockport, Tyler and Brett of Norridgewock; and two stepgrandchildren, Amanda and Jessica Doughy of Yarmouth.
