Saturday’s icy conditions contribute to numerous accidents for tractor-trailers, cars

These two tractor-trailers in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Plymouth were among several that rolled over on the interstate and other Maine roads as a result of icy conditions Saturday. These and other overturned trucks were being hauled away on Sunday. The Maine Department of Transportation reported similar operations on Route 9 in Clifton and on I-95 south in Etna and Pittsfield.

This delivery vehicle was unable to make it back onto the road after it sid into a driveway and was hung up on Outer Hammond Street in Bangor.  The ice-coated roads were extremely slippery as rain kept falling on Saturday.

Numerous accidents occurred Saturday as streets and roads were so slippery, the Maine Department of Public Safety warned drivers that conditions across the state were “extremely” dangerous.
