PORTLAND | Every seat in the house is full. They’re standing in the back two rows deep. It’s summer and it’s hot. Cool night air trickles in through a crack in the black curtain covering the stained glass window, which is thrown open as far as it will go …

If  I were these ladies I’d have someone I trust see me to my door after a show. This has creepy men in attendance written all over it.

  • Healthy looking girls for sure…not the skinny lollipop heads so popular in todays norms.

Gimme’ a couple of them gals and I could save a lotta heatin’ oil this winter!!

You just need more of the smaller ladies to have the same affect ;)

m,you might want tio watch “BVulesque” on Netfickx. The thinner girls really dont have ehat it takes for this job.Fore many jobs, they are fine, but burlesque,by its sheer nature.works better with a nice full figured woman. Not these refrigerators with heads, wearing sweat pants or pajamas in public, that are so common round here, but some larger ladies who REALLY know how to take care of themselves. They blow the skinny chicks away…

$16 trillion in debt; endless wars in the Middle East; the largest prison population in the world, and the liberal elite serve up an endless stream of moral corruption.

Is this Maine or the Second Weimar Republic?

I say out with the Democrats and Republicans; and put an end to the decay.

    “Liberating art form?”

    Really?

      You are SUPER off topic!

Since it’s not safe for women to walk the streets of America, do you think you could show women a little more respect?

    • Anonymous

Here we go again with men telling women what they can and can’t do with their own bodies.  How does that equate to respect?  I don’t think burlesque shows are much of the reason for the state of modern society in this country in regards to the safety of women on the streets.

These are entertainers. This is a show you PLAN to see, not something a drunk frat boy or sexual deviant wanders into. They dont do this for a paycheck. Its a hobby and a passion. Your opinion would be respected if you knew what the hell you were talking about.

You’re not talking about my post, right?  Because we both agree on the matter.  More power to the ladies.

““R-rated,” retorts Vice and they dissolve into giggles.”

“Dissolve” is not really the word or image you want at this point, Troy.

hmm, prostitute ring at Zumba classes that’s hitting the national news and we will probably see it soon on Court TV…and now we have this :)

The part this story missed is almost the best part, not the suggestiveness, but the performance and scenery being completely exotic and different, like Cha-Chas tattoos. The old movie palaces doubled as theaters and burlesque halls…If you have never seen one, search “movie palace” for images, they are mind-altering! Computerized special effects of today have nothing on these places.
Maine has a few small palaces including the State Theater in Portland, Colonial in Belfast, Criterion in Bar Harbor..another case of “video-killed-the-radio-star”…as the band The Buggles would say…(My mistake attributing to Cheap Trick first time around, thanks for the heads-up p_dizzle). Important part is, check out the palaces, they’re amazing.

By Cheap Trick you must mean The Buggles.
