Scoville powers Unity men’s soccer team by Eastern Maine CC

BANGOR, Maine — Jacob Scoville scored three goals and notched an assist to lead the Unity College Rams to a 5-2 men’s soccer victory over the Eastern Maine Community College Golden Eagles Thursday.

Ben Denoncour and Ian Sypek each added a goal for Unity. Denoncour, Neil D’Acierno and Alan Jamrozy each chipped in with an assist.

Phil Holmes scored both goals for EMCC.

Field Hockey

Stanford 1, Maine 0

At Durham, New Hampshire, twelfth-ranked Stanford limited the University of Maine to four shots on on its way to a 1-0 college field hockey victory at the University of New Hampshire.

Clemence Couteau scored a reverse-stick goal from 10 yards out at the 30:09 mark of the first half to account for the only goal of the contest. Dulcie Davies made four shots for the 3-0 Cardinal, who held a 7-2 edge in penalty corners.

Emma Cochran made six saves for the Black Bears (1-2).

Gordon 1, USM 0

At Wenham, Massachusetts, sophomore Shannon Hicks made six saves and junior Lydia Ellsworth had a pair of defensive saves to lead the Gordon by the University of Southern Maine.

Hicks and Ellsworth combined to deliver the Scots their first shutout victory of the season, making senior Karli Weiss’ first-half goal stand for Gordon (2-2).

Goalkeeper Amanda Kasbohm had six saves for USM (1-2).
