Catching fresh air in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — The skate park at Dougherty Field on St. James Street in Portland opened in November 2010, at a cost of $250,000.

It was paid for by the city and donations. It replaced a smaller, less interesting venue in a parking lot on Marginal Way next to Interstate 295.

It’s free and bikes are, obviously, allowed.
