FREEPORT, Maine — Thousands of jack-o’-lanterns lined Main Street and covered a small building during the 10th annual Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival on Saturday night at L.L.Bean.

Each of the pumpkins were sponsored for $10, in an effort to raise $100,000 for the retreat in Casco for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

When the goal is 10,000 illuminated jack-o’-lanterns it takes dozens of people to light all the candles. But when it’s all over it takes just a couple guys with leaf blowers to blow them all out.

Then the cleanup can begin.
