BANGOR, Maine — A line of people stretched around the side of the Cross Insurance Center Saturday morning as people from all over the region waited to get into the 36th annual Bangor Gun Show, which runs through Sunday afternoon.

“It’s pretty much like every one of the previous 35 guns shows — there is everything from the historical to the ultra modern,” longtime organizer Charlie Rumsey said Saturday morning as people milled past the various tables covered with guns, knives and other weapons, ammunition and supplies.

Doors opened for the Bangor Gun Show — the first public event at the arena — at 9 a.m. Saturday and will remain open until 5 p.m. The show runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $8, children under 12 are free, and current law enforcement, military and NRA members are $7. Those who sign up for an NRA membership at the door get in free.

All the proceeds from the annual gun show help fund college scholarships for students studying wildlife conservation or wildlife law enforcement at the University of Maine and Unity College, Rumsey said.
