SACO, Maine — That old saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute,” certainly rang true earlier this month.

Fishermen on the Camp Ellis jetty and beach-lovers on the nearby sandy shores needed sunscreen one minute and umbrellas the next as they tried to contend with Mother Nature’s fickle moods.

Dazzling sunrises would give way to morning showers. By midday the sun would return with a vengeance, heating things up enough to prompt afternoon thunderstorms. Then, before you knew it, the ominous skies would quickly clear out, ending the day with a colorful sunset.

One thing about Maine’s summer weather: it sure isn’t boring.
