PENOBSCOT – Allen and Priscilla Bowden of Penobscot celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2009, with a special family trip to Saint John, New Brunswick. They were accompanied by their children and spouses, Miriam and Paul White of Orrington and Gregory and Karen Bowden of Penobscot; and their grandson, Ross Bowden of Penobscot. Both Allen and Priscilla are lifelong residents of Penobscot, graduating from Clark High School in 1953. The couple was married on July 4, 1959, at the Penobscot Baptist Church. Priscilla served as Penobscot town clerk for many years and retired from Maine Maritime Academy. Allen continues to own and operate Bowden & Son Trucking & Excavating with his son, Gregory. The couple are members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ellsworth.
