Youth Sporting Clays Shoot

CANAAN, Maine — Silverton Sporting Ranch is hosting their 5th Annual Youth Hunter Class Sporting Clays Event at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.

Youth from ages 10-18 years old are invited to participate accompanied by an adult. Adults should have shooting experience and are invited to participate along with the kids. Participants start the day on the five stand with a round of 25 targets. They then move to the sporting clays course for a round of 50 targets.

Sporting clays offers clay target presentations designed to simulate hunting shots and include targets going away, targets coming in, crossers, rabbits bouncing across the ground, targets quartering in and away and from towers overhead. Single and pairs of targets make up the course which is thru woods and fields.

The event is sponsored in part by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, www.rmef.org which provides a grant that helps cover the cost of ammo and targets. Youth are asked to bring just one box of shells with the rest provided at no cost. Adults can participate for $25.
