MACHIAS, Maine — Washington County: One Community is hosting a “Reduce the Impact” event at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Rose M. Gaffney Elementary School.
The guest speaker is Timothy Shaw, a substance abuse specialist with Bangor Public Health and Wellness, who has worked with people and communities throughout the United States and Canada by spreading the word about the dangers of drugs and how people can help combat this epidemic that affects every community.
The event, which is open to everyone, will include education on substance abuse, signs and symptoms of abuse, current trends, and how to build community strength.
The event is scheduled to coincide with National Drug Facts Week and is the second in a series of such forums. The first forum was held at Lubec.
