UNION, Maine — The Union Area Chamber of Commerce will host a roadside clean-up day on Saturday, May 4.
The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and will convene at Ayer Park on Route 235 just south of the Union Common. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. A hot dog lunch will be served for volunteers following the clean-up. Volunteers will also receive a clean-up T-shirt thanks to event sponsor Gnathos Dental.
This year the chamber is asking families, neighbors, schools, churches and other community groups to adopt a section of road to clean during the event. Participants can contact Jackie Stratton at the Medomak Valley Land Trust, at 832-5570 or firstname.lastname@example.org, to sign up for a road section. Road assignments will also be made the morning of the event so it is not necessary to sign up in advance.
Last year more than 1,400 pounds of trash were collected in one morning. Bottles and cans will also be collected.
For more information about this event, please contact Jackie Stratton at email@example.com.
