ORONO, Maine — HUD Regional Administrator, Barbara Fields and Maine Field Office Director, Bill Burney along with youth from affordable housing communities throughout Maine will attend the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation event, joined by various law enforcement agencies from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the University of Maine, 160 College Avenue.
“Badges for Baseball” is a juvenile crime prevention program created by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Marshal’s Service. The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation uses baseball and softball to develop character and give disadvantaged youth opportunities to succeed. University of Maine Black Bears baseball and softball players will be there to work with the youth.
The schedule is as follows:
• 10 a.m.: Opening Remarks.
• 10:40 a.m.: Baseball/Softball clinic.
• 12 p.m.: Lunch.
• 1 p.m.: Campus Tour.
• 3:15 p.m.: Law enforcement demonstration.
• 4:30 p.m.: Closing Remarks.
