UMaine Circle K hosts Third annual St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event to benefit children’s cancer

UMaine Circle K, a Kiwanis-affiliated college service organization at the University of Maine, will  hold its Third annual St. Baldrick’s head shaving event at UMaine from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.

More than 40 male and female students and community members will be shaving their heads bald to show solidarity for children with cancer and raise money for life-saving pediatric cancer research. The event will be held on Maine Day, the University’s annual end-of-the-year celebration and community service day, in the riverside Steam Plant parking lot.

A total of $5,052 has been raised this year so far; last year’s fundraiser drew in $10,568, and the premier event two years ago netted $14,363.

This event is being organized by Circle K member India Stewart. India will be having her head shaved on Maine Day as well. She can be reached at or at (207) 691-7461. For more information about the event or to make a donation, visit
