PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Turnpike Authority advises motorists planning southbound travel through West Gardiner Tuesday, Jan. 22, to plan for intermittent traffic stops of up to 25 minutes between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Maine State Police will occasionally stop southbound traffic at mile 102 to allow work crews to safely repair overhead bridge girders without jeopardizing motorist or worker safety.
The work is weather sensitive and may be delayed or rescheduled. The rain, or snow, date is scheduled for Wednesday overnight, Jan. 23, between 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday.
Motorists should be prepared for trip delays or seek alternate travel routes. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of traffic stops, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will also be used to inform drivers.
The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding.
