PORTLAND, Maine — Due to the potential for inclement weather as a result of snow in the forecast, the Maine Turnpike Authority is canceling the planned intermittent traffic stops of up to 20 minutes scheduled for between the hours of 3 and 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22. The work has been rescheduled for 3-5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, weather permitting.
Maine State Police will occasionally stop northbound and southbound traffic at mile 81 in Lewiston for the relocation of utility lines without jeopardizing motorist or worker safety.
The work is weather sensitive and may be delayed or rescheduled. Motorists should be prepared for trip delays or seek alternate travel routes. Message boards will be in place to inform approaching travelers of traffic stops, and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) broadcasts on 1610 AM will be used to inform drivers.
The Maine Turnpike Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding.
