The new Emera Astronomy Center at the University of Maine is “Topped Off”

ORONO, Maine — Nickerson & O’Day, Inc., construction manager for the new, Emera Astronomy Center at the University of Maine is pleased to announce that we are hosting a Beam Raising Ceremony on Monday July 29, commencing at 2 p.m. The children from both the Old Town Recreation Department and the Orono Recreation Department as well as Alan Davenport, Director of the UMaine’s Maynard F. Jordan Planetarium, and Gerard Chasse, President/C.O.O. of Bangor Hydro Electric Company/Emera will be there to sign the new beam before it is hoisted into place. Karl Ward, President/C.E.O. of Nickerson & O’Day Inc. as well as John Poulin, PE of WBRC Architects ∙ Engineers will speak about the unique features of this very special project and the tradition of the Beam Raising Ceremony.
