AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Conference of the United Church of Christ is pleased to announce the formation of the Maine School of Ministry. With recent changes in the educational and ecclesiastical landscape of Maine, the Conference is responding to the need of individuals and churches to engage in spiritual formation, theological education, and ministerial preparation.
The goals of MESoM include supporting and deepening the spiritual growth of the people of Maine, encouraging a culture of learning in congregations, and providing tools and education for the church’s leaders, both lay and clergy.
Classes begin on Sept. 28, with a course on “Christian Worship: Practicing the Way of Christ” with the Rev. Kate Winters, Ph.D., co-pastor of The First Church in Belfast. Students will be looking in depth at why we do what we do when we gather for congregational worship and the importance of it for the life of the church. The course is offered in five hour classes over four Saturdays at the Maine Conference Center in Augusta.
For further information, contact the Maine Conference, 622-3100. All are most welcome.
