AUGUSTA, Maine — GrowSmart Maine will host Summit 2012 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Augusta Civic Center.
Bruce Katz, vice president and director of the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program will be the keynote speaker for the event. Evan Richert, principal at Richert Planning, will make a presentation. The event will also feature a plenary session with Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte, Bangor Mayor Cary Weston, Eastport City Manager Jon Southern and Portland Economic Development Director Greg Mitchell. Twenty breakout sessions will be held throughout the day covering topics such as transportation, affordable housing, tax credits, technology, fisheries, farming and forestry.
At the end of the day, GrowSmart Maine will premiere a short film celebrating the economic, environmental and community successes of four groups across the state.

8:45-9:45 a.m., Keynote speaker.
9:45-10:15 a.m., Charting Maine’s Future – Making Headway.
10:30-11:45 a.m., Morning sreakout sessions.
Noon-1 p.m., Lunch and networking.
1-1:30 p.m., Evan Richert, “Changes in Maine Since 2006.”
1:30-2:15 p.m., ”Navigating the Intersection: Maine Successes” panel discussion.
2:30-3:45 p.m., Afternoon breakout sessions.
4-4:30 p.m., ”Charting Maine’s Future: Why the Collective Impact of Our Work Matters to Maine” film.
4:30-5 p.m., Reception.
